Stay Warm & Ready: Your November Home Prep Guide ❄️

Don’t Get Frosted — Winter Prep Made Easy ❄️

November in the GTA brings shorter days, chilly nights, and the start of heating season. Before the snow piles up, take a few minutes to make sure your home is ready for winter. A little effort now can save you from frozen pipes, cold rooms, and high utility bills later.

🍂 6 Tips for Living in Toronto This November

  1. Test Your Heat Early
Turn it on before the first freeze! Catching problems now saves you from shivering while waiting for repairs later.

  2. Watch Those Windows
Drafty windows are sneaky energy thieves. Keep blinds closed at night and seal any noticeable gaps — your toes (and hydro bill) will thank you.

  3. Stay Dry, Stay Safe
November means slush, rain, and puddles. Keep a mat by the door to catch water and avoid slippery floors — especially in shared hallways.

  4. Plan for Shorter Days
Sunset hits early! Make sure entryways and stairwells are well-lit and replace any dim bulbs. It’s cozier and safer.

  5. Be a Snow-Day Neighbor
If snow falls, help keep walkways clear. A little team effort goes a long way in making your community safe and welcoming.

  6. Get Ready for Comfort Season
Stock up on tea, soups, and soft blankets. Check your smoke and CO alarms, then relax knowing your home’s ready for winter.

  • Industrial cooling system with metal pipes, valves, and machinery in an outdoor setting, with a gray concrete wall and a sign in a foreign language.

    Run a Heat Check 🔥

Turn your thermostat on now — not when it’s -10°C. If your unit doesn’t warm up within a few minutes, send a quick maintenance request. Better safe than chilly.

  • A white window with nine panes, with a latch in the middle, and two vases with flowers and a white teapot on the windowsill, outside is a blurred view of green grass and trees.

    Clear the Air 🌬️

Move furniture away from vents and radiators to keep warm air flowing. Dust or vacuum around them — it helps your system work efficiently.

  • Close-up of a roof with dark asphalt shingles and dried fallen leaves accumulated along the gutter.

    Seal Out the Drafts 🪟

Feel cold air sneaking in? Close curtains at night, and if you notice a real draft, let Shelterly know. We’ll handle it before it becomes a winter headache.

  • Balcony with modern decor featuring white sofa, wicker ottoman, throw pillows, wall planters with greenery, hanging string lights, and view of houses and trees outside

Tidy Up Balconies & Entrances 🧹

    Be Winter-Ready 🚪

Keep salt or mats by your door to prevent slips, and make sure you’ve got gloves, boots, and cozy socks handy. Toronto winters can sneak up fast!

KING Toronto

KING Toronto is a bold new residential-development rising on King Street West in downtown Toronto. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and developed by Westbank Corp + Allied Properties REIT, the project reimagines the typical “tower-on-podium” condo model.
