Fire Safety Starts with You:
Be Proactive About Fire Safety in your home

Tenant safety is a top priority, and it starts with you. Always keep an eye out for potential hazards and take precautions to stay safe.
Test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors every month - if they do not work, please
get in touch with us immediately. If you notice any safety concerns—like faulty locks, broken stairs, or fire risks—
report them to the support team immediately. Together, we can maintain a secure and comfortable living environment!

  • Check and Clean Dryer Vents to Prevent Fires

Lint buildup in dryer vents can be a major fire hazard. Clean the lint trap after every use and inspect the vent for blockages. If there are issues, notify the support team.

  • Safe Space Heaters

If you use a space heater, follow safety guidelines: keep it away from flammable items, never leave it unattended, and use models with auto shut-off features. Safety first keeps everyone warm and secure.

  • How to Keep Your Balcony Winter-Ready

Don’t forget about outdoor spaces like balconies or patios. Remove heavy snow buildup and check for cracks or damage caused by ice to prevent long-term wear.

  • Take Stock of Fire Extinguishers in Your Home

Fire extinguishers are often overlooked but critical. Confirm they’re accessible and check their expiration date. Report any missing or expired extinguishers to the support team for replacement.

  • Maximize Natural Light During Winter

Brighten your home by opening curtains during the day to let in natural light and reduce energy use. Clean window panes to make the most of shorter daylight hours.

  • Check the Basement for Leaks During Thaws

As temperatures rise and snow begins to melt, it’s essential to inspect your basement for leaks or signs of water damage. Look for damp spots, water stains, or unusual odors. Catching issues early can prevent costly repairs and protect your belongings. Report any concerns to the support team immediately!

Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on the 1st day of each month. If they do not work or need attention, please contact the support team through the app and we will be glad to assist you.

WINTER STATIONS

Woodbine Beach, Toronto
Feb 17—March 17, 2025

Winter Stations is a single-stage international design competition held annually in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Participants are tasked with designing temporary winter art installations which incorporate existing lifeguard towers spaced strategically across the city’s Kew and Woodbine beaches. The structures (not in use in the wintertime) are considered visual anchor points for the installations.

As in previous years, Winter Stations intends to build 4-6 winning proposals for a six-week exhibition along the waterfront, funding permitted.

While Toronto beaches are not typically as well visited in the colder seasons, Winter Stations has captured the imagination of the city. Designers can expect their designs to be well-visited and should anticipate public interaction.

The competition is open to everyone in the world. There is no fee to enter.

Lobby of the month ~ The Waverley

484 Spadina Avenue

Toronto Life Feature ~ By Simon Lewsen | Photography by Worker Bee Supply

The Hotel Waverly was a notorious Toronto flophouse where outlaws and criminals laid low in the 1960s and ’70s. The new 16-storey residential building on the site, completed in 2021, borrowed the name (with a slightly altered spelling) but not the history. Anwar Mekhayech, lead designer and a founding partner at Toronto’s DesignAgency, says his vision for the space was more global than local. “I wanted to appeal to lots of cultures, not recreate old Toronto lore,” he says.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sounds like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest.
